Changes

I’ve finally found the time, energy and requisite passwords to have a go at fixing the php memory limit problem with this website, with the intention of passing it over to the new BUMPS committee to look after. In the meantime, some strange things might happen to the site as I fiddle with the inner workings.

Hello? Anyone there?

Hello BUMPS! Im not sure if anyone uses this site anymore? It seems a bit too dead for my liking. Log on and post a response, it wouldn’t be right to see it fade away. While I am here, a bit of shameless self promotion - www.waffleness.co.uk. This is my website. Check it out if you get a second, its got a few tracks on there. James

chip32 VST synthesizer

Working on some greensleeves variants. A heavy metal one is in the offing courtesy of the BUST house band.

For now, here is a soothing version I made to get the hang of the tune. I had to go and get dots off the internet… your actual tadpoles!  I have also made a fun version with the rather splendid Chip32 VSTi synthesizer. This is a very simple machine that allows you to draw a waveform for the oscillator to use - super crunchy retro beeps.

David Hawkins - 8 bit Sleeves

David Hawkins - Soothing Greensleeves

The second one is, of course, kontakt-powered.

Here are two tracks for the forthcoming Complete Works of Shakespeare (Reduced) piece by the Bath University Student Theatre society. Both are ‘plinky plunky dismal odd music’ for Troilus and Cressida - take your pick or get back with a more specific brief! I’ve uploaded them for Adam Jackson and David Board because of the 2MB upload limit - I’ll try and fix it soon!

David Board - Plinky Plunky (wav version)

Adam Jackson - Steady On

… with an analogue synth under one arm and some kind of drum machine under the other :-S

My Website

Hello people,Bit of shameless self promotion here. Rather than clog up this blog with all my random compositions, I urge you all to check out www.the-plughole.co.uk , where I’ve dumped a whole load of mp3s for your enjoyment. I welcome comments on the music/website/my hairstyle. Cheers. David Board

Thought I may as well stick it up here. It’s also gone onto the band myspace at www.myspace.com/terraincband

No More Days

Inspiration

Everything Peels

Toy Soldiers

Mad World

Challenges included lack of overhead mics on drum kit, massive hi-hat bleed into snare mic, and working from mix of kick and toms. The panning represents actual stage positions, apart from vocals. I tried not to do too much adjustment beyond compression/limiters, to maintain a reasonably ‘live’ feel. However, I did apply a gentle phaser to the keyboards which were sounding a little lifeless. In unrelated news, I need to buy an EHX Small Stone :-)

Short track for awards.

Here is a shorter version of a track I uploaded a while back. I’d like to do something new, but coursework/exams etc means I don’t have time for messing about with me synths. Anyway, I think it sounds quite uplifting, but my perceptions are skewed by going to too many extreme Japanese death noise gigs.

Also, I cannot seem to get the little player above to work… help?!

Short version of Greed. I’ll get it to backstage tomorrow.
